DDB at Advertising Week

Wendy Clark joined Google’s Tara Walpert Levy on Monday morning on the Advertising Week main stage for a special discussion about video advertising.

#DDBatAW: Monday 9/25 Recap

Today DDB and Tribal kicked off Advertising Week early with two hot speaking engagements.

First up, DDB/NA CEO Wendy Clark took the main stage at the Playstation Theatre with Google VP Tara Levy to discuss the future of video ads and the agency-client relationship. Their talk focused on how to make ads more personable and tailored to the viewer experience, and how this consumer-centric approach translates into the relationship an agency can have with its client. In that spirit, Wendy offered an insightful piece of advice for agencies to “never forget that we’re in the growth business.”

Meanwhile, nearby at BB King, Tribal Worldwide New York GCD Steffany Carey gave a short but sweet presentation as part of the Creative Shorts Seminar to a packed house. She focused her presentation on Tribal’s work with 3 Musketeers to showcase their successful #ThrowShine campaign and how it’s an excellent example of brands responding to the next generation of consumers. Steffany went on to discuss her thoughts on the future of creativity with an astute observation on the nature of storytelling with Gen Z and below. Content, she said, is getting more “bite-sized” which is changing the narrative of storytelling; a story, on these platforms and in these formats, is no longer narrative and brands have to adapt to putting their message at the center no matter the method. Steffany packed a ton of useful and pertinent information into a five-minute slot!

At 6:30, our top DDB North America leadership attended the VIP Opening Gala at Radio City to mingle with other top industry professionals and celebrate the biggest advertising conference in New York. Then, later in the evening, the party really kicked off at Irving Plaza with the Opening Gig, featuring an unexpected performance by Pusha T!

Monday has set expectations high for the rest of the week, but we’ve got much more up our sleeves. Stay tuned for Day Two!
